Primary responsibilities include the design, development and maintainance of scalable data warehouse solutions along with data modeling/analysis used to mine enterprise systems and applications for knowledge and information that enhance business processes. The ideal individual will be responsible for assisting in building, deploying, and maintaining data support tools, metadata inventories, and definitions for database file/table creation. In addition, this role will be responsible for building efficient data pipelines, integrating data from various sources, optimizing storage, and ensuring high performance for business intelligence and analytics platforms.

 

This role is located in our San Diego office, with 3 days per week expected in-person, on site.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Solutions and Data Infrastructure Architects along with end users and other stakeholders to design an effective data warehouse.
  • Data engineering & pipeline development – design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and workflows to extract, transform, and load (ETL/ELT) data from various internal and external sources in Databricks, Microsoft Fabric or similar platforms.
  • Enterprise data warehouse & modeling – architect and optimize the enterprise data warehouse, applying best practices in data modeling, performance tuning, and scalability to support enterprise-wide analytics using modern ETL/ELT tools and technologies.
  • Data governance & quality – partner with practice and governance teams to document cataloging, lineage, and stewardship, while ensuring data quality, security, and compliance.
  • Create data definitions for new database file/table development and/or changes to existing ones.
  • Optimize data warehouse performance through indexing, partitioning, and tuning queries.
  • Identify research questions, solve problems using data analysis, and communicate the results to various stakeholders.
  • Determine required network components to ensure data access, as well as data consistency and integrity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineery, Information Systems or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of professional experience in data warehousing or related roles.
  • Must have proficiency in various data warehousing technologies, including ETL tools, SQL databases, and data modeling techniques. They must also have a strong background in programming languages such as SQL, Python, and/or Java.
  • Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification and methodology development.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management, provide the appropriate level of detail and focus on the right information.
  • Extensive experience with full Microsoft/Azure stack:  Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Databricks, Azure SQL/Azure Data Lake etc.
  • Proven experience with systems design and development.
  • Strong interpersonal and consultative skills.  Must have the ability to present ideas in a user-friendly manner.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to conduct research into emerging technologies and tends, standards and products as required.

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000. The highest in this range will be considered for the most closely experienced candidates.
